In reply to <a href="https://gamingbolt.com/what-to-expect-from-the-playstation-4ps4#comment-42210">Will</a>.

Actually, Will is right. When the original Playstation came about in '94 it did not have analog sticks. The later versions did. I believe it was '96 or '97 when they came out with the Dualshock(R3,L3).

I really hope Sony doesn't change the controller and I really doubt they will.

What I see happening is There will be a new version of the PS Move and it will work as a main controller along side of the Duelsock4. The PS4 will be more motion sensed but the Dualshock would be a big part of the PS4 and both will be used on all PS4 games(You will choose what controller you would like to use).

And Sony owners are spoiled when looking at Backward ability. Can you name all the consoles that let you play the games made on the platform before it? There isn't many. I know the 360 let's you play some XBOX games, And the Wii let's you play all GameCube games. But The PS2 let you play all PS1 games. And the first batch of PS3s were backward compatibility . on all PS2 and PSone games. Sony doped that feature to safe cost building the console. And now the newer PS3s only play PSone games. It would be awesome if the PS4 would be fully BC but as long as it plays PS3 games, that's the biggest problem we should be worrying about. But we won't, Sony would do that.

Sony is doing great, they have the best system. And they won't be in a rush to get their next console out. The PS3 is in it's prime, Actually, If you look at the number the PS3 and the 360 sale monthly. The PS3 sales more a month. The reason the 360 has sold more in total sales is because it launched 16 months before the PS did.
The PS3 will pass it up soon.

I'm enjoying the PS3, the PS4 I see coming out around 2014. the Next Xbox in '13. And the new Wii U is a joke! I been saying they needed a new console for a long time now. they will need a new, new one to compete in the next generation.

Happy gaming, all! :)

I'm expecting another design stolen. The original PS3 was the Foreman's Grill then the redesign was a Bose receiver. They should just use an original design based on the Sony Visio laptop.

I can tell you with 100% certainty you are wrong - try using google. It's WIDELY + HEAVILY reported that sony lost money on the PS3 for the first few years, sony themselves were the ones going on about it to the point they released a document justifying its cost. they make their money from licensing and games. The reason they brought out the PS3 slim was because it reduced manufacturing costs and actually allowed them to get to a stage where they could make a profit

It doesnt matter that it doesnt follow your logic, it follows a logic, the plan with the PS3 was a ten year life so sony factored in making a loss on hardware early for revenue returned by accessories and games

Actually the PS1 did have analogue sticks.

POW!!!

PS1 = DualShock (waaaaay before the PS2)
PS2 = DualShock 2
PS3 = DualShock 3

I hope you can see the pattern forming.

This is wrong. Sony did not lose money on each sale of the PS3. Sony is an international corporation with enormous buying power. The exact cost of production of each unit is a guarded secret and has never been published.

I can tell you with 100% certainty that no corporation like Sony would ever produce a product for sale that will sell for less than its production cost. At the very worst they may have sold the units at par with the production cost however even that is very unlikely.

Corporations are out to make a profit plain and simple. The logic that they would sell a product at a loss is ridiculous!

I think it's hilarious to what-if stuff until the cows come home. The non-what-if in this scenario is in fact true. Sony loses money on each console sale in the beginning. They do this however in the hopes that people buy them anyway, this makes charging 3rd party developers more money justified, and also brings up sales on games which cost less to make after R&D is said and done.
