A sequel following Joel and Ellie would be a waste of a great story. But how did tommy and Joel get by in the early days? How did the fire flies start? Why did tommy leave the fire flies? That’s only a few of the questions that could be answered. There’s so much scope for more in the last of us world it would be foolish not to make the most of such a great game.

Thanks for your opinion but I must say I disagree with this article. Although The Last of Us is a great game in its own right, with an amazing story arc and performances, it did leave plenty of scope for a follow up. If a poor sequel did exist it wouldn’t take anything away from the original, so I say why the hell not?

Also, Naughty Dog has a history of bettering themselves with sequels. Jak 2, Uncharted 2, Crash Bandicoot 2, are each unarguably better games than the originals (the quality of the 3rd games in these series’ can’t be disputed either).

Imagine if there was no sequel to Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, Grand Theft Auto, Halo, Half Life or The Legend of Zelda? The world would be a terrifying and strange place.

At the end of the day it’s a Sony IP and there will most likely be a PS4 follow-up announced within 18 months which will cause everyone to go bananas and sell 2 million copies.

And finally ‘Melancholy’ not Melon Collie. That would be a bizarre Dog-Fruit hybrid.
