This moron should be asking why PS4 owners would pay to rent streaming time to play old games on PSnow.

Funny how Sony supports paid back compat on PSnow but not free back compat like on Xbox.

This generation of gamers and especially media are so moronic that they may indeed bring the end of consoles

Well I didn’t buy a PS4 to play my PS3 games. I just placed the PS3 in a room with my older consoles and allow them to be used with the games I already owned☺

I don’t want BC if it could hold back going forward that’s for sure.

Wow this thread is a pool of poison. Ironically the backwards compatibility feature on Xbox One has made some old Xbox 360 titles actually run better than the original hardware ever did. I remember running Oblivion on my old Xbox 360 and that ‘Loading area…’ screen. You now don’t get that while running it on the Xbox One, as it’s similar to playing it on a modern day PC.

BC obviously isn’t as hard as is made out. Countless emulators are on PC.
If a couple of dudes in a bedroom can figure it out then imagine what a major company can do. Unfortunately there is no money in it so Sony and MS don’t bother.

Xboxone only has 360 BC out of desperation (to try to improve XB sales). If XB had launched as planned it wouldn’t have 360 BC.

The term “Backwards compatibility” doesn’t even exist on PC.. it just is. Things just work across all of those different combinations of hardware.

Incorrect. PS4’s architecture was specifically chosen for ease of development and future compatibility in mind.

You don’t have “full BC.” You have patchy emulation. Deal with it.

When a ps5 gets an official announcement you can be sure Microsoft will do the same lol so not putting an Xbox 4/Scorpio 2 in the next gen category is a little one sided...
