‘Wii Street U’ application basically brings Google Maps to the console

Free for a limited period.

Nintendo are bringing Google Maps to the Wii U. It will be available today on eShop for free for a limited time. Users can explore Google maps with the help of the Wii U controller using the built in sensors.

This application will also include a recommendation engine that will work like your guide and will recommend places that you can visit.

Street View is a popular feature of Google Maps that allows users to virtually explore and navigate a neighbourhood through panoramic street-level images. The most common of course is the Street View car but they also have Snowmobiles and Tricycles, and most recently, they introduced the Trekker, a wearable backpack with a camera system on top.

The application launches today across Europe. As I mentioned earlier this app will be free for a limited period after which the users will need to pay for it. Users can use it until March 31st, 2016. So I guess that is enough time to roam the streets.
