The Nintendo Wii U may be having a better year thanks to a healthy number of exclusives like Mario Kart 8 and Hyrule Warriors but it’s still suffering in terms of third party games. In fact, Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs may be the biggest third party title to arrive for the console actually.
Speaking to Game Informer, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot talked about how Wii U gamers were interested in games like Just Dance. “It’s very simple: what we see is that Nintendo customers don’t buy Assassin’s Creed. Last year, we sold in very small numbers.” Wii U games accounted for a measly 3 percent of Ubisoft FY 2014 game sales. So now you know why Assassin’s Creed: Rogue or Unity won’t be arriving on the Wii U.
Guillemot also mentioned that Watch Dogs on the Wii U will be “the only mature game we publish on it.” It’s expected to release this Fall for the console and is already available for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and PC.
