Joel Bylos, lead designer at Funcom (developers of titles like Age of Conan and Secret World), think the Wii U might turn out to be the only system that can run MMORPGs “without compromise”, citing a “perfect” controller, a “customisable touchscreen” and “3D spatial movement” as the points in the system’s favour.
“Wii U could be the first real console on which running an MMORPG without compromise is plausible,” he told Official Nintendo Magazine. “The controller is perfect for lining up those rows of hotbars that are essential in most MMOs. A customisable touchscreen interface combined with the 3D spatial movement of a console controller could be a winner.”
The Wii U already seems to have plenty of attention from MMORPG fans. Dragon Quest X, a full fledged MMO, will be released on the Wii U soon.
