Wii U performing poorly at UK retail – Report

Nintendo needs to talk to these retailers fast.

The Wii U does not have much consumer interest based on reports from retailers in the UK. ShopTo dropped the price of the system to test how much demand it has and the result was not favourable, as they didn’t see a massive spike in sales.

ShopTo purchasing director James Rowson had “taken the decision to reduce the price of the Basic Wii U to test the market and assess the impact of a price change for a short period of time.”

VideoGamer spotted this in the latest issue of MCV, and other retailers have expressed doubts over the system’s future.

“They’ve got to do something otherwise it is GameCube all over again.”

It is interesting to see the performance of the Wii U at retail because Nintendo thought they had a winning formula with the GameCube.
