Despite reports of the Wii U floundering in the recent spate of NPD reports, even though it’s November 18th release meant it only had less than a week of sales accounted for in the NPD, the system is going pretty strong in Japan. Famitsu has reported that the Wii U sold 308,570 units in just two days. The system launched on December 8th in Japan.
It’s also been reported that the top selling game is New Super Mario Bros. U which sold 170,563 units, followed by Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate with 110,159 units sold. Both titles had an attachment rate of 55% and 36% respectively.
NintendoLand, meanwhile, sold about 78,461 units and garnered a 25% attach rate, primarily because it was not included with the Deluxe Set as in North America and Europe, thus facilitating a separate release.
If these are the numbers right now, one wonders what it will be like when Dragon Quest X hits. Then again, one also wonders where games like Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge placed on the sales charts.
