I purchased Virtual World Entertainment LLC. in 2005. Virtual World LLC (the makers of the BattleTech cockpits and the company TJ Wagner refers to) continues to operate as a Delaware LLC as it has since the Microsoft Game Studios acquisition and split of VWEG and FIT in 1999. The trademark "Virtual World" and internet domain was sold to 3Dchat a few years back. Virtual World Entertainment LLC continues to use the Virtual World trade name in the out of home entertainment realm under its agreement with 3DChat. The official website of Virtual World Entertainment, LLC. was moved to MechJock.com

Just saw the awesome ad on TV, It reminded me of Battletech. Wow, no wonder!
Re: company called Virtual World Entertainment. In that case you played inside of giant pods with 3D graphics and 15 monitors.
The virtual reality mirrors and associated beam splitters in those pods are still worth thousands. It was real avionics joysticks, throttles and the multi-function displays were programmable unlike the limited joystick.
Granted, the 3D graphics have come of age. it is too bad we can't experience the realistic cockpit in virtual reality instead of a flat screen with a focal length of a couple of meters.
The USPTO shows Virtual World Entertainment was acquired by a company known as 3D Chat. Virtual World Entertainment was a large innovative corporation in its day. Anyone who worked with that group would be fantastic. I must try this game based on that alone.
Alas, Virtual World Entertainment, INC had all of its patents expire as it sold of IP to Microsoft. A undocumented news release claimed a llc bought it. Under US Tax Law, that would be Virtually Impossible.
I will look forward to visiting those Virtual Reality Pods on my next trip to Houston. The majority of them are now in private arcades. They are actually still exciting to play. In the meantime, this Tanks games looks exciting.
