This is because so many people are selfish and short-sighted (or so the internet can make it seem). They refuse or fail to realize:

1) Microsoft has multiple platforms to host their games
2) there is no sense in holding games hostage on a console and impeding game sales
3) PC tech dwarfs console performance
4) console hardware sales revenue pales in comparison to games revenue
5) if you haven’t bought a XB1 by now, it will never be your primary system i.e. MS can’t lose 3rd party sales revenue when a customer was just going to buy the PS4 or PC version, regardless
6) apparently, some people have an aversion to playing videogames on PC
7) a console is nothing more than a Trojan Horse that gives a game company access to your wallet

Yes, that works too, from Microsoft’s perspective. But they are stilling pouring a lot into the Xbox brand even on Windows, so we may see it become more and more their kind of “universal gaming platform”.

Or another way of looking at it is any game that runs on Xbox and PC are Windows 10 games.

So while Gears, Quantum Break, Forza, et al are no longer “console exclusives”, they still remain “Xbox exclusives”.

Some people will infer from this that Microsoft is planning to abandon Xbox hardware, but I don’t see that happening–ever. Many people will prefer consoles to PCs for gaming, and vice versa. Either way, Microsoft wants those people to see the value of Xbox gaming.
