This honestly sounds like a company that has struggled to adapt to the reality of the market that most players get their games digitally now and that those looking for physical disc is a shrinking customer base. Fewer and fewer people are coming in for game discs, those that are are looking for deep discounts, so not much profit margin. They get to make a ridiculous statement like this knowing that it won’t really effect their bottom line because so few people are buying actual games from them in the first place and it will be free publicity reported far and wide on sites like this. Short term, they get a slight boost in ‘buzz’ around them, but long term, they see no gains and the market continues to move away from the position that they refuse to change from.
