a great article it will be interesting to see where the pricing is at, im guessing xbox is going to partner with oculus which would explain why the scorpio is high end 4k tvs arent mainstream yet either, most tv chanels arent even 1080p so you understand why a 4k games console is next year launch playstation are taking the work with now approach instead but im guessing it will come down to pricing and timing, im not even sure these consoles are going to be selling to the same audience

To have them run at 4k would require lowering the settings, that means you'd either have better graphics at 1080p or the graphics would be lowered all around, resolution does not make for better looking games, only better image fidelity.

Not true, consoles don't need Ultra High settings because the benefit of such settings are mostly indistinguishable from 10 feet away.

I will eat my GPU if that does 4k at 60fps, you're going to get 30fps and dynamic resolution. I know how specs work INCLUDING hard coding to metal. The PC is by far a more sensible option when you aren't restricted by a closed system.

Why would I be joking. A console that deliver 4K 60 FPS for $400 with keyboard and mouse support, is going to take the bottom out of the PC Market.

True, but we knew XB1 was not going to sell at all in Japan, so I personally started with US market, that would even give MS a "leg up" but even that did not improve the MS numbers.

You're right, although it was 10 months after the Japan release (Japan market). I doubt they were going to sell any more there even with an extra year.

PS4 released like a week earlier so that's not it, but price and PR mistakes, ya we can add that to the mix.
