Hmmm, Nintendo is the one company that has maintained digital continuity even while lacking an account system, so could you please clarify what you mean?

No doubt there is the option but I dont think either company will let a dev do it for at least a couple years

There is the option to design a Scorpio game so demanding, it simply would not run on XB1 in a playable fashion. Even which scaled back geometry, physics, textures, particles, resolution, the loss would not be worth it.

I feel that off the bat, Sony and MS have to "console" everyone (haha) and assuage their fears of obsolescence. Further down the line, they can be unshackled from the lesser boxes. Maybe the break is held back until XBOX "Two", whose games are playable on Scorpio in lesser form (forward compatibility), but not XB1. Backwards Compatibility becomes standard and is no longer a wish).

But what happens when something that was limited by hardware like halo 5's splitscreen is only available on the scorpio, simply because it's the only xbox device that can handle it? Not exclusive games but there will be a heck of a lot of exclusive features on the scorpio version.

It's like when the 360 arcade bundle shipped with no HD then eventually Halo and Splinter Cell required the HD to play.

With the switch to x86...well x64 architecture no console should ever NOT be backwards compatible again.

At some point the Xbox one as it is today will cease to be supported just like the ps4.

That point won't come for a while though sp people don't need to worry and the good news is when the ps4 or xb1 die they can upgrade to the neo or Scorpio if they want and save some money or they can buy the next evolution.

This seems scary. Its a new frontier for console gaming but its a good one. The 360/ps3 generation held games back for 4 years longer than they should have. They stalled innovation. This fixes that problem while also ensuring your games will just keep working.

Hopefully this pushes Nintendo to do the same. I'm tired of buying Mario 64 every year on a different platform. Buy once play forever. Upgrade when you want.
