We keep getting better hardware and no developer is pushing anything. You know why? Its because Game development costs especially AAA has risen exponentially. Game development has surpassed Movies in cost to make. Next Gen it will go even higher. Eventually I think the bubble will burst and there will be a Gaming crash like the housing market or we will be paying $100 per game in the next 5 years.

Well its already happening with Season Passes, DLCs, Microtransactions and games releasing half now then DLC later.
