Seems that MS knows that more people are playing Gears 4 today than any of Sony’s single player exclusives that are dead a month after launch. Forza 7, crackdown 3, state of decay 2, sea of thieves, player unknown battlegrounds is more replay value than all Sony single player exclusives combined.

There is an IGN unlocked interview with Rod Ferguson where he said that Gears was all they would do going forward and that Shang-heist was dropped, he said if MS could do something with it but they(Coalition) weren’t.
I would like Gears if they went with the GTA or Final fantasy format of each game being totally different and unrelated. Gears 3 ended the trilogy and Marcus story for me. Gears 4 should have been a different story with new characters on a different planet or Universe with new gameplay types and enemies while retaining the Gears name and maybe some signature marker that identifies it has a Gears game. This way they can have new ideas or IPs with the Gears name to market it.
