Typical fanboy.
If you look for high quality image and frames then go for PC since the xbox games are available for PC and PC is much more greater than Xbox.

If you look for exclusives then go for PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
It's as simple as that, but I don't think donkeys will understand that :]

In essence I agree with most of what you say here, from the media bias in favor of Sony to MS's approach to their gaming business.

But I want to answer your question from my personal perspective. As fans, what do we get from console sales? NOTHING. But do We want our preferred brand to do well? ABSOLUTELY. Gaming is just another form of entertainment and having a preference for a particular platform is like having a favorite sports team. We are not only customers but also fans, so naturally we make observations, but in the end it is out of our control. I was hoping for a $399 pricetag for the X to be more accessible to more customers, but only MS knows the cost of making it.

But, am I disappointed about what was presented by MS at E3? Not at all, the X was unveiled and games already announced previously were given a released date. Yet, I was hoping for one or two surprises and while the graphics of games like Forza 7, Metro, Anthem, etc were amazing a lot of the exclusive games shown are not for me.

As for the console wars, it's clearly something that has been going on for a long time, and clearly a lot of media outlets use it to their benefit. I guess it depends how far you want to get yourself involved in it. Being in a comment section of "vs" articles will always encourage more of the same, and you will end up dealing with "corporate slugs" or being one yourself depending whose point of view is it.

Yep, they had amazing IPs on the original Xbox and during the early days of 360.
I'm tired of waiting, albeit I understand Spencer's decision not to promote games that won't be published in a matter of few months, I think that this strategy is not paying off.

In reply to <a href="https://gamingbolt.com/xbox-one-x-will-cost-499#comment-329784">Evil_Annie_2015</a>.

Honest question, why should a fan care about challenging some other console's sales*? I'm a gamer, I'm not fond of numbers that - at the end of the day - mean nothing to me since I'm not a corporation's shareholder. As a gamer, though, what I want to know is that the console I chose will deliver what was promised. Did MS deliver? Yes and no. They confirmed that they are commited to their consumers, they gave us services which have incredible value (EA Access, Game Pass, GwG monthly offers, reliable servers for multiplayer gaming, backward compatibility). On the other hand they fail to understand and/or anticipate people's desires with games that people want to play. Of all exclusives the only one that was really top notch was Forza Horizon 3 (and Ori and the Blind Forest, but it's not a triple A game).
I really appreciate Quantum Break (I'm a sucker for time travel stories), Sunset Overdrive is underrated, Halo 5 and Gears 4 are both getting amazing multiplayer support and both were underappreciated, but none of the above is a system seller.
Mind you, it's not like PS4 had system sellers during the first 3 years, they relied on the "most powerful console" mantra but that's something that won't work with Scorpio because the narrative has changed. And it has change because Sony has the power to dictate what's wrong and what's right, thanks to some admittedly biased journalist (*cough* Kotaku *cough*...) and forums, and thanks to the mistakes MS made during the launch of One 4 years ago.
Just like Nintendo, MS is moving on a different path than Sony, and it's legit. What's not legit though, is that they don't insist on bringing new games, new exclusive IPs, new iconic characters, they don't invest in first party studios. And do you know who I think is responsible for this? Nadella. Not Spencer, who is doing what's on his power to save the brand, but he can't do much when the CEO doens't give your division the necessary funding to let you work properly.
Lastly: marketing. Is it possible that a corporation like MS doesn't spend its money on marketing? When was the last time you saw a XBox/Xbox game commercial on tv? I live in Italy and the only gaming commercials I see are Ps4's. Isn't it the case to invest in advertising, too?

*I understand that the console war is something people love to indulge on, I don't. I don't like that "me against you", I don't like people being corporate slugs, etc. I totally hate what the gaming industry has become, I especially loathe that gaming sites rely on console war and clickbaiting and that those two factors are now more important than giving the correct news and unbiased opinions.

Well, you're probably right, maybe its just me. I'm thinking about the older gamer demographic, so yeah, "I" can afford it.

But do I really need it?

Will I ever eventually feel like I'm missing out on something by not owning it?

Nope.
