But generations aren't based on marketing. PSX and N64 are two of the easiest consoles to declare their generation. It was just asinine for him to question this. It's like asking "Was Pele even good at soccer?" Like what kind of question is that?

Believe it or not, its entire marketing at the time as centered around it being 64 bits`, so twice as powerful as the PlayStation and Saturn. Nintendo used to trumpet the advantage and say that they basically skipped the 32 gen and were offering the next generation already.
Console wars, man. Serious business.

Xbox One has never faltered in the games department since the system's launch. Yes, their initial unveilings before launch focused on media features and ignored games, but the games have always been there. The games have always been just as strong and had just as much support as the games on PS4. They have 99% of the exact same games, so the only difference is their exclusives. Please show me where Xbox failed in comparison in regards to the games. Xbox has had just as many exclusives as PS4 and arguably better exclusives aside from Uncharted 4. Because quite frankly, as someone who has played primarily on the PS4 this generation because the games look a little better, there hasn't been a game of note on either system that wasn't a first party game with the exception of the original Titanfall. So tell the me this magical list of games that shows that MS has failed and Sony has thrived.

"The Xbox One may be doing well with sales, and I specifically note its sales in the article- but the Xbox 360's incredible success went beyond just sales, which the Xbox One has been unable to recreate."

That's not a failure, that's called impossibly high expectations.
