Monolith Soft’s eagerly anticipated Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has received its first review courtesy of Japanese publication Famitsu (courtesy of Gematsu). The open world RPG receives scores of 9/9/8/9, which adds up to a cumulative 35/40.
Make sure to take the scores with a grain of salt – as many have pointed out, Sonic Forces has a similar cumulative score (and it’s far from a great game). Xenoblade Chronicles 2 releases on December 1st exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. It focuses on Rex who discovers a Blade named Pyra and subsequently travels with her to find Elysium, a paradise of sorts.
Like previous games, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has a simple to play but complex battle system allowing players to execute different combos, utilize numerous different Blades, form bonds with them (and even send them out into missions), recruit different party members, explore the open world and much more. Early impressions have been favourable but stay tuned for official reviews when the game actually hits.
