Sega’s Yakuza Kiwami 2 will be a full fledged remake of Yakuza 2 (the game with which the series really hit its stride, if you ask fans)- but it will also be adding a ton of new content to the original. A lot of that will come in the form of minigames.
Minigames have always been part and parcel of the Yakuza franchise, and are actually responsible for giving it a lot of the personality and charm that it has. The minigames in Yakuza Kiwami 2 sound like they will outdo themselves in this regard.
The minigames will include Karaoke (of course), Shogi (the Japanese board game, often likened to Chess), golfing (you don’t have to be the President to do this, you know), batting center (to play some baseball), mahjong (I shouldn’t have to explain what mahjong is), and gambling at the casino. You can see screens of each of these minigames for yourself below.
Yakuza Kiwami 2 will launch exclusively on the PS4; right now, the release is only confirmed for Japan, but a western one is sure to follow later.
