Nintendo is finally making those gold coins- which you get each time you purchase a physical or digital game on the Switch- useful. You can now use Gold Coins to avail of discounts on the Switch eShop when purchasing a game off of it- one Gold Coin is equal to 1 cent, so 100 Gold Coins will be $1.
Going forward, Nintendo will also be increasing the amount of Gold Coins you get from purchases on the Nintendo eShop- if you purchase a $60 game, you will get 300 Gold Coins (or 5% in the value) back. Basically, you get 5% in cash value back on every digital game purchase you make, which you can then use towards more purchases from the Nintendo eShop. Which is certainly one way to impel users to spend money on your digital storefront.
You can check out the full details of how the Gold Coins will work from now on for yourself on Nintendo’s website.
