Zynga files for real money gambling application in the US

Trying to dominate in the US, eh?

Hey Nevada, Zynga’s coming for you. Nevada is a state in the US where real-money gambling is legalized and there are a bunch of other states in the US too, which Zynga is targeting. We earlier reported that the company as looking to go into gambling and after Europe, it’s now US’ turn.

It will take 12-18 months for their application to be approved, however, so they are playing the waiting game now. Zynga has faced a lot of damages in recent times due to declining business and also fired a lot of staff, and it looks like this is where they plan to do business after Facebook cut them off a bit and reduced dependencies on them recently.

They have filed all the papers through the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

Barry Cottle, Zynba’s chief revenue officer said, “Zynga has filed its Application for a Preliminary Finding of Suitability from the Nevada Gaming Control Board. This filing continues our strategic effort to enter regulated RMG markets in a prudent way. We anticipate that the process will take approximately 12 to 18 months to complete. As we’ve said previously, the broader U.S. market is an opportunity that’s further out on the horizon based on legislative developments, but we are preparing for a regulated market.”

They are already active in the UK, via a partnership with another gambling company.

Thanks, Gamespot.
