Yesterday, Sony decided to host an indie game showcase, showing off the staggering variety of quality indie content that is coming to the PlayStation line of systems. Of these, the PlayStation Blog has decided to highlight twelve, spanning all genres and kinds of games.
A lot of these are ports of games that were already released on other systems, but are now making their way to PlayStation for the first time, but a lot of them are also new titles making their debut on PlayStation. In any case, it is clear that few, if any, buy a system for indie games- therefore, their exclusivity status, in particular, is irrelevant.
The games being launched include a PS4 port of Spelunky, Fenix Fire Games’ Source, which seems like an excellent take on the Metroidvania genre, Nidhogg, which is releasing for the first time on a console ever, Drifter, which is a massive space sandbox, and Axiom Drift, a retro platformer described to have ‘a curious twist.’
There’s one thing for certain- if quality, varied indie content is what you want, and you don’t have or like a PC, then PlayStation is the place to be this generation.
