2.7 million gamers clock in for Halo Reach beta

Over 2.7 million gamers collectively clocked in to the 18 day long Halo Reach beta.

Logging over 16 million hours and achieving a staggering 1.1 billion kills (coming in at 407 kills per person), the popularity for Halo Reach is nothing short of incredible.

“It’s exceeded our expectations,” said Bungie Studios community director Brian Jarrard. “Our only real perspective going into this was the ‘Halo 3’ beta test, which had about 800,000 people. We knew there were a couple million copies of ‘ODST’ out there, but we really didn’t have any specific information that let us know what the population might be like.”

Bungie will almost certainly be rooting for top spot on the sales leagues; Halo 3 achieved $300 million, while the current table leader Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 made over $550 million to date.

Stay tuned to GamingBolt as we eagerly anticipate the release of Halo Reach.
