What do you do when you’ve got $2,000 you just absolutely have to get rid of? Well, if you don’t have a lighter handy, you could bid on a shady listing for an allegedly leaked copy of a game that only releases next month, with absolutely no way of certain that it’s the real deal.
Incredibly, this is exactly what appears to have happened with an “early copy” of No Man’s Sky (thanks, Videogamer). Ebay seller walke-jim (who’s listing has since been taken down) apparently put up a purported early copy of No Man’s Sky for sale. The final bid hit $2,000, but it was sold. Subsequently, milkybar1983 over on Twitter pointed out that the copy is almost certainly a fake: The disk label misalignment meant that it was a printed label.
No Man’s Sky has been generating a frankly scary amount of hype as we approach its release date. What’s your take? Know any other ways to get rid of lots of money fast? Let us know!
