3DS Sells Like Mad in Japan After Price Drop

Last week of Japan sales were depressing for 3DS fans. Remember how the system sold only 4,000 units, less than even the DSi XL? Of course you do- the internet wouldn’t let you forget, would it?

Well, take heart. Apparently, the price cut for the 3DS, in effect from August 11 in Japan, has led to a massive, massive surge for the 3DS.

Enterbrain/Famitsu report that the 3DS sold a staggering 207,000 units in Japan last week, more than 55 times the units sold the week before that. Media Create says that the 3DS sold 214,000 units last wee, which is 57 times more. These are incredible sales, and once we get the final number in a few hours, it will reaffirm that there was indeed demand for the 3DS, but the price of admission was too high.

Looks like the 3DS is on a spate of good news today. First, Zone of the Enders was teased for the system, now this. What next, huh?
