A Total War Saga: Troy Gameplay Changes and Battles Detailed in New Video

Check out how classic mythological units are interpreted in the upcoming strategy game.

The Creative Assembly’s A Total War Saga: Troy made headlines recently due to it launching for the Epic Games Store this year. In a new interview with senior game design Milcho Vasilev, we learn more about the various changes that can be expected. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Total War video without some big battles.

Inspired by Homer’s The Iliad and encompassing the Trojan War, the strategy title sees the forces of Mycenaean Greece and Troy battling it out. Mythological units can also be utilized though A Total War Saga: Troy handles them a bit differently – the Minotaur, for example, is more of a large soldier with a bull head that strikes fear into foes. It’s an intriguing twist on traditional myths.

There are also new terrain types, which should lead to new strategies during battles. A Total War Saga: Troy releases on August 13th for PC. It will be a timed exclusive for one year on the Epic Games Store. You can also pick up the game for free – yes, free – within the first 24 hours of its launch. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
