Sony is doing everything right with the PlayStation 4. To add to that, its competition seems to be doing everything wrong with their consoles. This unique combination of circumstances, luck, and some thorough foresight and planning is leading to the PlayStation 4 finding itself in the kind of perfect storm that the industry hasn’t seen since the PS2 days. This is, of course, leading to incredible demand for Sony’s new system, even before it has launched.
What with Sony raising its sales projections ahead of the console’s launch, now Amazon, too, is responding to the incredible demand that it is facing for the PlayStation 4 by essentially splitting the pre-order page into two ‘editions-‘ a launch edition that will be shipped on day one (a promise Amazon will no longer be able to honor for everyone), and a standard edition, that will be shipped later. Both ‘editions’ of the system land on Amazon’s Top 100 list, at #1 and #3 respectively (with the Xbox One taking up the #2 spot).
This kind of incredible demand is reaching a fever pitch that may yet cause the PS4 to become the next PS2. Do you think this can happen? Sound off in the comments below and let us know.
