Even though the PlayStation 4 reveal took center stage, the major talking point since then has been the technology behind the device. It was revealed later that CPU manufacturer AMD’s Jaguar would form the CPU with the Radeon being the GPU for the upcoming console.
However, as if to still showcase its alliegance to PC gamers, AMD is now teasing something referred to as “tressfx”. The company is calling it “a new frontier of realism in PC gaming” with the tagline “Render. Rinse. Repeat” and invites gamers to learn more on Tuesday, February 26th. Judging by the tease and ads running, it would seem AMD is going to tackle the problem of realistic hair rendering in video games.
But is it just us or all these pre-announced dates for mysterious reveals starting to get a little annoying?
Regardless it’ll be interesting to see what AMD has to offer PC gamers, especially given the new NVidia GTX Titan and the overarching technology of the PS4 that is supposedly – and lay heavy emphasis on “supposedly” – wowing consumers around the world.
