Animal Crossing: New Horizons Has Sold Over 5 Million Physical Copies In Japan Alone

Talk about some of those Nook miles.

On the low key, Animal Crossing became one of Nintendo’s biggest franchises. The life sim series has struck a major cord with people, and the latest game in that franchise, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, has reaped the fruits of that labor.

As reported by Famitsu, the game has managed to sell over 5 million physical copies in their domestic territory of Japan alone. And that is only physical, not factoring in whatever digital adds to that from the region. This is over just 3 months from the initial release, and as you can see from the chart below, the performance has been almost startling in its consistence.

We got word back in May that the game had sold just shy of 14 million units, and last month it was reported it had passed 10 million in digital sales alone. The game is available now and continues to get updates and, as you can see, there is nothing slowing it down.
