Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Total Japanese Shipments (Including Digital Sales) Reportedly Exceed 2.5 Million

Nintendo's life sim has launched to spectacular sales.

Nintendo’s had a lot of heavy-hitting releases on the Switch that have sold exceedingly well, but it looks like Animal Crossing: New Horizons is on course to outpace them. Not only did the game break all launch sales records for the series in the UK, in Japan, it sold over 1.8 million physical copies in its first three days, becoming the biggest Switch launch in the region to date.

With digital sales also taken into account, that figure very likely becomes even more impressive. Niko Partners senion analyst Daniel Ahmad recently took to Twitter and reported that Nintendo’s latest life sim title’s total shipments (including digital sell through numbers) in Japan look to have exceeded 2.5 million units in the game’s first three days on the market, which is an insane figure no matter how you cut it.
