Animal Crossing: New Horizons is already quite the incredible success. The game has sold a huge amount in Japan alone, and is looking to be well on its way to being the best selling Animal Crossing ever, as well as one of the best selling Switch games. That means lots of post-launch support is coming, and a title with an ongoing structure like this is tailored made for it. However, with the state of the world right now, it could get pushed back.
Speaking with The Washington Post, Director Aya Kyogoku reaffirmed that DLC and post-launch material was still coming to the game, but also stated due to the current pandemic of the coronavirus, it’s possible some of that could be pushed back to a later date. While she doesn’t outright say anything about delay, Kyogoku stated, “We’re not sure if we have to shift anything, but I think we have to be flexible.” Don’t be too surprised if, like many things, Animal Crossing gets hit by COVID-19 issues.
