Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ massive version 2.0 update was originally slated to release on November 5th (along with the Happy Home Paradise DLC). However, it seems to have gone live early. Nintendo hasn’t provided patch ntoes yet but players can seemingly update their games to the new version without any issue.
The version 2.0 update adds quite a bit of free content to the game, like Brewster and The Roost coffee shop where players can enjoy some coffee. Along with inviting friends, it’s possible to encounter different villagers in the shop. Other new villagers that have been added include Kapp’n who will take you to strange new islands to garner new flora.
Harv also returns and has his own island replete with numerous shops, including Katrina the fortune teller and Harriet the hair-stylist (with several new hair styles available to unlock). A new activity is also being added to the plaza which sees the villagers gathering together for some group stretching. Upgraded home storage, DIY cooking recipes, Ordinances for keeping shops open late and so on have also been added.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ version 2.0 update will be the last major free content update added to the game. While it seemed that Happy Home Paradise would kick off the first of many paid DLC, Nintendo has since confirmed that it’s the first and last of its kind as well.
