To say that Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been a massive success for Nintendo would be a pretty big understatement at this point. In addition to receiving rave reviews at launch, the game has also been selling consistently well, and with over 13.4 million units sold as of early May, had already surpassed the lifetime sales expectations Nintendo had projected for it.
Digital sales have contributed to that success significantly (thanks to the lockdowns imposed by nations around the globe due to the pandemic), and it seems New Horizons has managed to reach a new milestone in that area, too. As Famitsu reports, the Nintendo Switch exclusive has sold over 10 million digital units worldwide since launch.
Given the continued success the game has enjoyed, and the reports we’ve been getting over the last couple of months of its strong digital sales, this doesn’t come as much of a surprise.
