Battlefield 4 Publisher On PS4 Game Development Costs

Not a big leap then.

Battlefield 3 cost more than $100 million when you combine the game development and marketing costs, and it’s something that Activision also does since marketing is one of the reasons why the sales tend to be so high most of the times.

The game made all the money back as EA shipped 15 million copies of the game, and that’s a lot of revenue.

Battlefield 4 was recently revealed as well and Gamestop CEO was also blown away by it, so what does it cost to make on next-gen platforms considering the current gen costs were already so high?

The costs will be 10% more, it has been revealed.

“On any one title, it might be five to 10 percent increases in cost, but the real opportunity comes with the ability to expand what you can do in that title,” EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said.

“Overall you might see larger titles or larger costs because of the capability that you can deal with, but we’ll also see larger revenue streams, we believe, because of the excitement around some of those big titles.

“Typically at the start of a cycle, you’ve seen the pricing raise say to $69 for a core piece of software, and then over the life of those they’ve stripped it down to an introduction price typically now around $59. We haven’t yet set pricing on our gen four [games], but you’ll probably see a similar trend to that during the start of the next cycle.”
