Bayonetta Creator Doesn’t Get Chance to Make Sequels, In Charge of “Offering New Entertainment”

Which explains why Hideki Kamiya isn't in charge of Bayonetta 2.

Platinum Games’ Hideki Kamiya may have been involved with several hit titles in the past, but for some games, he had to step aside. This case is true for Bayonetta 2, which is coming out for the Wii U in 2014.

Speaking to Famitsu (transcription via Kotaku), Kamiya stated that, “It’s not that I don’t want to make sequels – I really do. But considering the nature of my position, I don’t really get a chance to. Somebody needs to offer new entertainment to gamers and do the work of sowing seeds that can later grow to be strong pillars. It sounds a little overblown, but I’ve come to believe that is my purpose.

“If I had been involved with Devil May Cry 2, then Viewtiful Joe and Okami might never have been made. If I was directing Bayonetta 2, then I wouldn’t have been able to make The Wonderful 101.”

Considering the marginal sales of The Wonderful 101, we have to wonder about the fate of Bayonetta 2 now. What are your thoughts on the same? Let us know below.
