Bethesda Renews DOOM Trademark, Sparks Hope for a New Game Reveal

This comes shortly after Microsoft's FTC court case documents revealed a project named DOOM Year Zero being in the works at id Software.

Bethesda Softworks has registered for a new trademark for what might be a new DOOM game by virtue of its IDKFA name (which is a cheat code in DOOM). The trademark details can be viewed by clicking here, and it was registered on 2024-01-09 with its current status as still pending approval.

Rumours of a new DOOM game have been doing the rounds for a while now, and speculation suggests that we might be getting an announcement of a new game in Xbox’s June showcase event. Furthermore, a project named “DOOM: Year Zero” has been in the works for some time now as per Microsoft’s FTC court case documents.

Talking about Microsoft and Xbox, the gaming conglomerate has recently announced that it would be shuttering down Arkane Austin, who developed Redfall (which has now been abandoned), and Tango Gameworks of Hi-Fi Rush fame – read more on that through here.
