Bethesda Softworks Uploads New Teaser, Rumoured to be New Wolfenstein

Could id's Nazi-killing FPS be returning for one last hurrah?

Bethesda Softworks uploaded a new teaser on Vine which showcased some barbed wire and rotating vinyl record. Faster than you could say “Fat Boy” though, Bethesda denied the rumours that this was a new Fallout title on Twitter.

How about a new Wolfenstein then?

According to a story by Polygon, a Google cache version of Julian Beeston’s official website shows his work – which plays in the Vine teaser – listed under “ADR Engineer, Production Sound” for a new Wolfenstein game in development at Machinegames.

However, ZeniMax Media acquired Machinegames in 2010, with the official press release at the time stating that the develoepr was working on an “unannounced project for ZeniMax publishing subsidiary Bethesda Softworks that is being built on id Software’s revolutionary id Tech 5 engine technology”. A domain for wolfenstein.com was also registered in 2012 according to a WhoIs search by Network Solutions.

Is there any merit to these facts or is it all just conjecture at this point? No one can deny the links, that’s for sure. Let’s see if the impending E3 2013 offers any clues.
