Beyond: Two Souls Had a Budget of $27 Million

That is one low budget film.

Beyond: Two Souls, the upcoming David Cage helmed Quantic Dream title releasing exclusively for PlayStation 3, had a budget of $27 million. This makes it one of the more expensive video game productions, but for what the title is striving to be- a movie- it is one hell of a low budget.

This news comes to us courtesy of Lefigaro, who also have numbers for Heavy Rain, Quantic Dream’s other big game. Hilariously, Quantic Dream seems to refer to Heavy Rain’s success in film terms, not in game terms, citing dollars grossed and dollars spent, instead of unit sales.

Heavy Rain had a budget of $22 million to Beyond’s $27 million, with another $18 million spent in marketing and distribution. It went on to gross over $100 million worldwide, which tells us nothing but that it was a success (we know from an earlier 2010 report that the game sold at least 3 million units worldwide).

Beyond: Two Souls launches exclusively for PlayStation 3 soon. Stay tuned for more coverage.
