Blizzard: ‘There’s no particular fear we have of Windows 8’

Your turn now Gabe.

After the backlash from Valve and Blizzard, the latter has changed its tune and has come out in support of the OS by saying that they have no particular fear of it.

“We put our games on platforms our players are already on, so yeah, it will be available on Windows 8,” Blizzard’s senior software engineer, Darren Williams, told CVG.

“I think that we’ll go with the platforms that the most people are on. There’s no particular fear we have of Windows 8.”

Earlier Gabe Newell had called Windows 8 a catastrophe in the PC market space.

“I think Windows 8 is a catastrophe for everyone in the PC space. I think we’ll lose some of the top-tier PC/OEMs, who will exit the market. I think margins will be destroyed for a bunch of people. If that’s true, then it will be good to have alternatives to hedge against that eventuality.”
