Many might not remember but when Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, a successor to the Castlevania franchise from creator Koji Igarashi, was funded, one of the stretch goals was an 8-bit spinoff. That spinoff is now available courtesy of Inti Creates and called Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon. It’s out on PS4, Nintendo Switch, 3DS, Steam and PlayStation Vita.
Curse of the Moon focuses on Zangetsu, a demon slayer who ventures into a murky castle to defeat a demon. Wielding a sword, Zangetsu will encounter various allies throughout his journey who can become playable characters. One such ally is Miriam from Ritual of the Night.
Imitating the old-school Castlevania titles in both style and gameplay, Curse of the Moon is currently available for $10. If you want to experience a more retro version of Castlevania (or happened to back Ritual of the Night up to a certain tier), this might for you. The Xbox One version arrives on June 6th.
