Gearbox Software’s Borderlands: The Handsome Collection will be out on March 27th worldwide for Xbox One and PS4 (with North America already having received the game). It includes ports of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel with 1080p resolutions, four player split-screen play and all previously released DLC.
However, Borderlands 2 has already seen a massive amount of success with Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford telling Major Nelson on his recent podcast that the FPS RPG has sold “well over 12 million units” since its launch. This information was apparently gleaned through a 2K Games earnings call.
That number is likely go up following the release of The Handsome Collection since it will encompass Borderlands 2 sales on the PS4 and Xbox One. It that doesn’t justify the need for Borderlands 3, built from the ground up for PS4 and Xbox One, then nothing does.
