Capcom cutting western developers loose

Capcom head Haruhiro Tsujimota has said that the company will not be collaborating with western developers on upcomign IP’s.

Speaking with the Financial Times, Tsujimota said that Capcom will be creating and handling base development solo from here, with western dev’s only being allowed to manage ports and sequels.

“As a group, the new titles where development was led from abroad didn’t do so well,” he said.

However, western studios are still working on some large sequel projects for the company, with Canada’s Blue Castle Games working on Dead Rising 2 alongside boss Keiji Inafune.

He also had the following to say on motion controllers for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3;

“If there isn’t a strong business model message from the platform holders about how they will develop [motion controllers] with users, then I don’t think it will go well.”
