With all the buzz and worry around the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, it’s heartening to know that several entities are donating to relief funds. CD Projekt RED is one such entity and has announced a donation of four million PLN (which is about $977,000) to fight the virus in Poland. The news was announced by co-founder Marcin Iwinski on LinkedIn.
Iwinski noted that two million PLN is from the company while the board of directors and major shareholders are contributing another two million PLN. The company has tied up with The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity which has been raising funds for medical equipment for over two decades. Iwinski said that, “We’d like to thank all the brave souls who fight for our well-being every day and hope these funds help in your effort to rid us of the virus.”
CD Projekt RED is currently developing Cyberpunk 2077 for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Google Stadia. The studio shifted to working remotely due to the pandemic but remains committed to its September 17th release date. Earlier this month, the game was sent to age ratings agencies around the world with the developer working on “polishing technical aspects” and playtesting.
