Tom Clancy’s The Division is Ubisoft’s post apocalyptic action game that takes place after some sort of pandemic. It has had a hell of a reception ever since it was shown off at E3 last year, and the developer has talked a lot about how integral the world the player finds themselves in is to the overall experience.
In an interview with The Examiner, the developers elaborated on that, specifically pointing to the role that civilians have in the game.
“Civilians are very important in the game, not only to make the world real and immersive, but also as a constant reminder about what and who you are fighting for. The civilians are trying to survive the crisis, scared about their future or attempting to locate lost loved ones who have gone missing in the chaos,” they said.
It sounds like a bit of a Walking Dead-esque scenario, except in an open world. It will be exciting to see how it is done.
