If you pre-order Civilization 6, you will get to play with the Aztecs civilization, as well as all of their accompanying units, technology, and leaders, before anyone else does- 2K Games announced today that pre-orders for Civilization 6 will net you early access to the Aztecs, 90 days before anyone else gets them.
The Aztecs come with an exclusive building (Tlatchi), unique unit (eagle warrior), and unique wonder (Huey Teocalli), not to mention Montezuma as their leader. If you do not pre-order the game, you don’t get your hands on any of this until early next year, though- although at least you’ll be able to get it all for free when it is eventually made available. It’s a bit of a shame, and the kind of pre-order practice I generally dislike greatly, but at least 2K didn’t get as abusive with it as some other publishers often do.
Civilization 6 will launch on October 21 on PCs running Windows and Mac. It will be the first numbered entry in the franchise, after 2010’s Civilization 6, though it will also be following 2014’s spin-off Civilization: Beyond Earth.
