Command and Conquer Remastered Gameplay Teaser Looks Faithful

Players can toggle between the old Legacy visuals and remastered graphics on the fly.

Petroglyph Games has released a brief gameplay teaser for its remaster of Command and Conquer, showcasing the title’s old 2D sprites before transitioning to something sharper. Granted, it’s still 2D but that’s a good thing. If nothing else, the remaster looks faithful to the original.

The reason for this is simple: Petroglyph is trying to remain as authentic to the original game’s feel as possible. “As you may remember from one of the first posts, our plan is to remaster (not remake) the classic games. Creatively, this means our guiding light has always been to remain authentic to the original feel, and we’re constantly on the lookout for ways to achieve that goal,” the developer stated in an update.

Those who want to stick with the classic visual style can enable the “Legacy” option. This will present the game in its classic sprites and 320×200 resolution. Don’t worry though since you can switch between the remastered visuals (which support 4K resolution) and the Legacy style as you please.

Command and Conquer Remastered doesn’t have a release date yet. Given that the base game and Red Alert are being remastered, it may be a while yet. Head over to official site in the meantime to check out other teasers and compare the old visuals with the new.
