Conan Exiles Early Access Delayed to January 2017

Funcom implementing more polish into its open world survival title.

Funcom’s Conan: Exiles, an open world survival game which is a follow-up to the developer’s critically acclaimed series, has been delayed. At least, it’s Steam Early Access launch has.

According to creative director Joel Bylos on Steam, Early Access will now be going live on January 2017 as opposed to September 2016. This is due to the studio wanting to “spend a little more time” on and the game and having “secured additional funding.”

“We want to take advantage of that and move Early Access to January 2017. With the extra time in development, we believe we can make a better game for you, the fans.”

Bylos also outlined the two directions that Early Access titles tend to lean towards. Ideally, he would like the team to avoid something buggy and unfinished and create something stable.

“Our aim is to deliver a game that is firmly in the second situation and creates a quintessential Conan experience. Conan Exiles is a different type of game for us and we have approached its development with an eye for the mechanics that make the survival sandbox genre so compelling, while attempting to bring the style and flavor of the Conan universe.”
