Several developers such as Platinum and Sony Santa Monica have shown interest in scooping up Vigil Games after it got shut down in one way or another. Now, Crytek has gone ahead and hired the “core” staff of the development team.
Former Vigil GM and co-owner David Adams will be heading the new Crytek USA Corp. in Austin, Texas, and he will have his own team with “35 experienced developers” working under him.
“Great news for Vigil, at least the core team,” THQ boss Jason Rubin tweeted. “hanks to Crytek for saving as much as they could of a fantastic team.”
A Crytek rep later said that this US startup for the developmer was “more like a new start for [the team at Vigil]”.
This is a great thing Crytek has done here. Not only has the developer branched out into more locations, it has also provided jobs to excellent, talented developers.
Kudos, Crytek.
