Reports came earlier today that in the THQ auction, where most of the major assets such as Honefront, Company of Heroes, Metro and Saint’s Row had been sold to various publishers across the country, Vigil Games and Darksiders had not been purchased by anyone.

However, it looks like Bayonetta and Vanquish developers Platinum Games might be interested in purchasing the acclaimed action adventure franchise and making use of it.

Atsushi Inaba, the head of Platinum Games posted on his Twitter that the devs were interested in purchasing Darksiders “on the cheap.” Here’s the translation as given by Kotaku: “In THQ studio and IP selling off auction, Darksiders is unsold? [We] wanna buy it… on the cheap…”

Considering the kind of gameplay Darksiders offers and the kind of games Platinum usually makes, this would be a very good fit. And seeing as how no one else is buying Vigil Games or Darksiders, it might just happen that Platinum buys the series after all.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens.
