Among the more impressive multiplatform titles coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 is CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition. The base game is noteworthy, but Phantom Liberty, exclusive to current-gen consoles and PC, is even more so.
Regarding the work involved, quest director Pawel Sasko (who is currently working as associate director on the sequel Project Orion) said it took a “f*** ton of effort” and “our best crew have been hammering it.” He further hyped, “If you want to experience what Nintendo Switch 2 can do, #Cyberpunk2077 is a hell of a benchmark.”
CD Projekt RED also received praise for including the entire game on a single cartridge, especially as other third-party developers opt for the new Game-Key Card system. “Don’t get me wrong, that game is massive. We have used a hydraulic vise to get it there. Managed,” responded Sasko about the same.
Launching on June 5th for the Switch 2, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is more than just a port with cross-progression. It also includes Joy-Con 2 support for motion controls, Gyroscope Mode for the UI and mouse support. You can learn more here.
Cyberpunk 2077 has sold 30 million units since launching in December 2020, while Phantom Liberty has crossed over eight million sales.
